Friday Wrap-Up 3 09-08-17

What a wonderful week! Some of our favorite parts of the week were investigating what Godzilla likes to eat, painting our chapter illustrations for ‘How To Train Your Dragon’, and going to the park.

Today was pretty great! In our volume investigation, some of us were able to estimate how many scoops it would take to fill our containers and everyone was able to successfully predict which of our containers held more water. We also were able to find out that Godzilla loves to eat crickets and caterpillars, will eat some watermelon, but won’t eat any leaves from a tree. We also decided that some of the things on our list, like the toes and the shoes, we shouldn’t feed Godzilla. Since we took those off our list, we’re excited to get to see if Godzilla likes eating pineapple and mashed potatoes next week. During math games, Nikki and Anja realized that matching games get easier when we have fewer cards, and we talked about why that is.

Our chapter in the read aloud was quite short today, but kind of scary, as it introduced the giant Sea Dragon. The Sea Dragon made a lot of appearances today, as we sculpted it in clay during our exploration, many of us drew it on our chapter illustration, and some of us even put it in our journal for the day. Needless to say, we’re going to be keeping a close eye on that dragon.

Some housekeeping announcements. We are going back to the library on Monday at 9:15, so make sure you’re here and ready to rock at that time. We are also spending more and more time painting, so if you would like to have your own painting shirt, make sure to bring one in. The school coupon book due date is coming up, so make sure you either send it back in or email the office that you would like to purchase it. Finally, the weather is starting to get a little chilly, so make sure we’ve got a jacket or sweater for recess times. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out and let me know. Have a great weekend and see you bright and early on Monday morning!
