A Mini-mystery

Since we were missing a number of classmates today, we decided to read a mini-mystery and pick back up with Nancy next week. In the mystery, a family investigated some missing cupcakes until the daughter confessed. This was a nice chance to explore a shorter mystery and talk about the pieces of the story. In the chapter pictures, Juniper decided to draw the cupcake crumbs, since those were important clues. Paolo left his chapter picture blank and labeled it the missing cupcake, which I thought was pretty silly. While we’re excited to get back to Nancy Drew, it was fun taking on a little mystery too!

The other highlight of our day was working with Ms. Alex’s class to make 3D printing plans. We decided, since we have a ton of popsicle sticks, that we will print off some clips that will allow us to build with them and then work together. We are then going to build marble paths out of the popsicle sticks, so we started sketching out our designs. Niki and her partner decided to name theirs Mousetrack, which was pretty funny. Rebecca and her partner designed a track that had zig zags and squiggles. This is going to be a pretty tricky project, but I can’t wait to see what we make together.

The rest of our day was filled with building (with our eyes closed), reading good books, and getting some paint on our fingers, just to wrap up this paint exploration. It was a great day and we missed all of you that weren’t here. Book orders went home today, but since a lot of people didn’t get it, I’ll do a write up next week. Have a great three day weekend everyone and see you Tuesday!
