Book Order’s Here!

What a fantastic Friday we had! We started by working with Ms. Alex’s class on a marble run, which was super fun. I had left some golf balls in the marble box, but Timo thought they would be too heavy for the track. Rebecca made sure that she checked that the marble would roll through her section before adding on, just so she wouldn’t be building on a section that didn’t work. Petro and Teddy experimented with a different design, but thought it would take too many connectors and changed their set-up. Junie was thrilled that she was able to build her own track and compare it to Stella’s. It was awesome to work with older students and compare our designs!

Next, we worked more on our art to remember project, painting over our crayon dot drawings with watercolors. We talked about how we could keep our colors vibrant and it really worked. Gia wanted to match the colors of the crayons she used to the colors of the paint, which looked pretty neat. Tove was a little sad there wasn’t a white to mix into a pink, but she made it work by watering down the red. Paolo, on the other hand, wanted a super dark black, so he didn’t use much water at all. Teddy enjoyed seeing how the green dots of the crayon popped through the paint. Anja was happy to paint blue around her rainbow, making a perfect sky for it. We don’t do many multi-day art projects, so this was a treat.

Finally, in our story, we finally read the notebook! Nancy found out that the will was located in a safe deposit box, which a number of people related to the deposits we make every week. We debated if the will was actually going to be there, but Niki was pretty sure if the notebook said the will was there, it would be there. Sokrates, on the other hand, worried that the Topham’s would get there first, even though Nancy had the key under her pillow. Max was pretty sure they could steal it from under her pillow, and Timo thought they would even stage a fake sleepover to steal it. I hope that doesn’t happen and we find out what will happen with Josiah Crowley’s money!

Book orders came in today, which is great, because we have a week until the next book order is due. This time, I’d recommend What Do You Do With a Chance; I recommended What Do You Do With a Problem last time and ordered the entire series in the last book order and love it. Check it out! I’d also recommend If You Ever Want to Bring an Alligator to School, Don’t! This series is hilarious for kids and also simple enough that they can remember the plot and read it themselves. Have a great weekend everyone!
