Melancholy Monday 09-11-17

Today was a very touching day, as we watched a video about how firefighters help keep us safe and the equipment they use. While we didn’t talk about September 11th, it was mentioned in the morning announcements. We made up thank you cards for the firefighters in our community, and they were very touching. We’re hoping to go with Ms. Anna’s class to deliver our cards to the fire station this week!

We also went to the library today and had a blast! We got a bunch of great books and had a blast using the materials and toys they had there. Some of us focused on building towers, others solved puzzles on their iPads, and some played with the kitchen supplies. When we got back, some of us were so excited to read our books we just couldn’t wait until the afternoon. We also had a few people struggle to find their library books to return, so Bisola suggested we keep all the library books on the bottom shelf of our bookshelf. Mr. Chris noticed a lot of us had books on dinosaurs, so we might have to talk about dinosaurs after our dragon unit.

Speaking of dragons, we started our next round of Godzilla food investigations. We wanted to try strawberries, Godzilla’s red food, and paper today. Yianni pointed out that the strawberry was too big for Godzilla’s mouth, so we had to cut it up. Gia pointed out that, if Godzilla was going to eat paper, Godzilla would eat the plate, so we’re not very confident the paper will get eaten.

Our math and volume investigations are going really well. The containers were pretty tricky today. Timo tried measuring the containers with a ruler, but it wasn’t very helpful. Niki successfully predicted that the containers would be a tie and hold the same amount, so tomorrow we’re going to change how we vote. We also had Paolo and Jerome practicing measuring the volume on the other containers, so they should be super accurate tomorrow.

We have picture day tomorrow, so make sure you come shined up and ready to smile! We should all be in our dress uniforms and here on time so we’re ready.
